These recordings were made by co-founders of Free Alabama Movement while in solitary confinement. They were played over loudspeakers at various stops during the prison strike solidarity march in Oakland, Calif., on September 10, 2016.

We targeted McDonald’s because of its visibility, and its market that it targets children. And it’s just the irony of that, you target children as your customers, yet you participate in prison slavery; and you won’t hire these people in the community, but you will hire them in prison, and get the money – it’s like they’re funding the school-to-prison pipeline, by targeting our children, exploiting them at early age, and then waiting on them to get to a certification age so they get incarcerated and work them for free.
